In the early days of the People's Republic of China, this tea was referred to as "Militia Tea." During the Great Leap Forward and the collectivization period, it was called "Abundant Production Tea." The name "Eastern Red" was adopted in the 1950s. At that time, China successfully launched a satellite named "Eastern Red," and to celebrate this achievement, the tea was presented to Chairman Mao by Wudong Village group leader Wen Yongji, a renowned tea master, through Liang Zuwen of the Chaozhou Agricultural Bureau.
Dong Fang Hong (Eastern Red) Dancong tea is characterized by its unique flavor and aroma. The tea liquor is rich and smooth, with a hint of sweetness. It features a blend of gardenia floral notes and fruity aromas that are exceptionally intense.
