武夷岩茶 茶界的貴族
Wuyi Rock Tea
The Noble of the Tea World
Wuyi Rock Tea is often regarded as the noble of the tea world, having been a royal tribute for several hundred years and holding an exceptionally high status in history. This tea originates from Wuyi Mountain in Fujian, where it began to take shape as early as the Shang and Zhou Dynasties. Over time, its charm has become increasingly irresistible. During the Han Dynasty, tea began to take root in this land, and in the Southern Dynasties, its reputation spread far and wide. By the Tang Dynasty, it became extremely popular, especially among the aristocracy. During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, it reached its peak, and in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was meticulously crafted, showcasing unparalleled flavors. Though it faded somewhat during the Republic of China period, its revival today has allowed more tea lovers to rediscover its ancient allure. This is not just a cup of tea but a historical journey that spans over a thousand years!
The Wuyi Rock Tea's famous production area lies within the scenic area of Wuyi Mountain, covering an area of 70 square kilometers. It extends east to Chongyang Creek, south to Nanxing Highway, west to Gaoxing Highway, and north to Huangbai Creek. The area is renowned for its " exceptional beauty in southeastern China." The peaks are interconnected, with gorges crisscrossing, and the Nine Bend Creek winds through the area. The climate is mild, with warm winters and cool summers, and abundant rainfall, averaging about 2,000 millimeters annually. The geology is typical of Danxia landforms, characterized by steep cliffs. Tea farmers utilize rock crevices, stone gaps, and stone seams, planting tea along the rocky edges, which gives the tea gardens the nickname "potted tea gardens." Depending on the growing conditions, there are distinctions such as Zhengyan, Banyan, and Zhou tea.
At the center of Wuyi Mountain lies a long, deep valley with rugged terrain. Nine towering peaks flank the valley, standing in pairs, north and south. The valley is filled with pine and cypress trees, stretching bamboo forests, and rows of tea trees at the valley’s floor, lush and vibrant. The tea trees are planted against the mountain rocks, thus creating the unique rock tea. The tea gardens of Wuyi Rock Tea are mostly situated in the rock crevices and ravines of the "Nine Dragons' Nest," benefiting from the valley’s warm winters, cool summers, and abundant rainfall. The soil here, formed by the weathered acidic rocks, nurtures the distinct flavor of Wuyi Rock Tea.

Fenghuang Dancong (Phoenix Oolong) is a type of oolong tea originating from the Chaozhou region. Known for its remarkable fragrance, it has earned the title of “the perfume of teas,” offering a sensory feast with each sip that captivates tea lovers. This tea is celebrated for its vast variety of aromas—there are hundreds of distinct profiles within Fenghuang Dancong (Phoenix Oolong), but the most iconic are the "Ten Famous Aromas." These ten varieties have become benchmarks, embodying the heritage and essence of Fenghuang Dancong (Phoenix Oolong) over generations.
Located in northern Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, the Phoenix Mountain tea-growing region is famous for its unique natural environment and rich tea-making tradition. Phoenix Mountain is not only the highest peak in eastern Guangdong but also the ancestral home of the She people, revered as the spiritual heartland of the Chaozhou community. Tea cultivation in this region dates back over 900 years, establishing it as the birthplace of Chinese oolong tea. The area is renowned for producing Fenghuang Dancong (Phoenix Oolong), often called the “king of teas” for its extraordinary aroma and flavor.
The success of tea cultivation on Phoenix Mountain is due to its exceptional natural environment. The region experiences a warm climate with ample rainfall, mist-covered mountains year-round, and a high humidity level. The significant temperature variation between day and night, an average annual temperature of around 20°C (68°F), and annual rainfall of approximately 1800 mm create optimal growing conditions. The soil is rich, deep, and filled with organic matter and essential trace minerals, supporting the development of tea polyphenols and aromatic compounds in the tea plants. Together, these conditions create an ideal environment for producing high-quality tea.
